I was talking with someone today and the topic of “what if the Republicans take over control of the House and the Senate… what should we do?” came up, quickly followed by, “Who do you support for president?” The first question is easy and the second is more difficult.
If we should regain control of both houses of Congress or at least control one and make significant gains in the other, we need to slam the door on new spending. Unless it is absolutely necessary, it can wait until we get our budget under control. We need to make sure the country begins to see that (hopefully) we have shed ourselves of the RINO type Republican, that is to say, guys like John McCain who constantly wanted to ‘reach across the aisle’ to make friends and legislation and have returned to the concept of lesser government.
Of course, the media and the left will automatically begin to bray that we ‘hate the poor’ and of course, ‘women and children will bear the brunt of the evil conservative agenda.’ Know it now and realize that it is just part of their plan to make us look bad. Everyone who is currently politically active has heard of heard of Saul Alinsky. I will list his ‘Rules for Radicals’ below but you need to see his tactics in action to understand what to expect.
George H. Bush, then an US House of Representative, was scheduled to make a speech at Tulane University in 1972 supporting President Nixon’s Vietnam policies and leftist radicals went to then Professor Alinsky to get pointers on how to plan a protest. He told them that their plan was not very creative and would be ineffective. He told them that instead of protesting, they should join the pro Bush supporters but dress like KKK members and whenever Bush said something in defense of the Vietnam War, they should cheer and wave placards reading, ‘The KKK supports Bush.' It worked like a charm. Does that sound faintly familiar to today’s headlines? Crash the Tea Parties anyone?
Study the rules as Alinsky laid them out in his book and you will see that the left uses these rules yet today. If you ever wonder why the left is so quick to make judgments against Christians, see rule 4. Palin hatred is summed up in rules 5, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13. Read these and see if you don’t see a modern pattern.
“Rules for Radicals.” Here they are, all 13 of them, from the chapter “Tactics:”
1. Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.
2. Never go outside the experience of your people.
3. Whenever possible go outside the experience of your enemy.
4. Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.
5. Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.
6. A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.
7. A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.
8. Keep the pressure on.
9. The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.
10. The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.
11. If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside.
12. The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.
13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.
More to follow on what to do if and when we regain control.
Regards,
V
