I went to a tax day flag wave today in northern Sebring. Lots of waves and horn honking with only one carload of people (driving a Korean car by the way!) giving us thumbs down, blaming G W Bush for all the problems of today. Pres. Bush didn't help us much in his last year but in 16 months, the current administration has quadrupled the level of national debt. Sure, let's blame Bush.
Talked with a young lady who was a reporter for "Highlands Today." She was asking stereotypical questions such as "...then Tea Party DOESN'T hate poor people and immigrants?" I told her absolutely not! This was about the drunken spending that is ongoing and I told her that 'the party,' meaning the wild spending had to stop. All politics aside, the out of control spending has to stop. We can't say "YES!" to everyone and some where, some how, we must start telling people, "No... we can't afford that." I had to tell my kids that as they grew up and I have to tell my wife that now and again... but it is the truth. The 'party' has to stop... now.
I guess I buy a paper tomorrow to see how she spins my words. I did my best not to give her that "Gotcha!" pull quote but I got a buck fifty that says through the use of convenient editing, I end up looking like a racist fool. Time will tell.
On the plus side, I met a very nice gentleman from Illinois and we had a good talk during the flag wave. Turned out he was the father of another gentleman I just met last Monday night. Small world huh?
